What “private by default” actually means

It's easy to put “privacy-first” on a landing page. It's harder to make the engineering choices that back it up, and to be upfront about where data genuinely has to leave the device.

On-device first

Your entries live in a local database on your phone. I don't run a server that holds your journal, which means there's nothing of yours for me to lose, sell, or be compelled to hand over.
