Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Benjamin Jacquet, trading as Novaire Digital (ABN 24 349 309 268) ("we", "us"), about your use of the Strand app ("the App"). By using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

If you downloaded the App from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement also applies, and these terms add to it. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it.

1. Who can use Strand

You must be 18 or over. The App is for your own personal, non-commercial use, to track your own hair. Do not photograph anyone else with it unless they have agreed.

2. What Strand is, and what it is not

Strand helps you take consistent photos of your hair, keep them in a private timeline, and, if you choose, get an automated estimate of how full your hair looks (the Hair Score). It also provides general information about hair loss and a way to log a routine and set reminders.

Strand is not medical advice, a diagnosis or a medical device. The Hair Score is an estimate from photos made by an AI model and a fixed formula. It can be wrong, it is affected by light, angle and styling, and it is not comparable between people. It does not tell you why hair is changing or what to do about it. Strand does not recommend treatments. Always talk to a doctor or other qualified health professional before starting, stopping or changing any treatment, and see one promptly if you are worried about your health.

3. AI analysis

AI analysis is optional and off until you turn it on. When you use it, the photos and details described in our Privacy Policy are sent through our server to OpenAI to produce the estimate. Results are generated automatically and may contain mistakes. You can report an observation that looks wrong or inappropriate from the result screen.

Analyses are limited per calendar month: one for the free version and up to eight for Strand Pro. The service may occasionally be unavailable (for example when our daily capacity is reached or the AI provider is down); try again later.

4. Strand Pro subscriptions

  • Strand Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, sold by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play. The price, billing period and any free trial are shown before you buy.
  • A free trial converts to a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. Manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings (in the App: You, Manage subscription). Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Payments, refunds and billing are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. To ask for a refund, contact them.
  • If we change the price, Apple or Google will tell you before it applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.

5. Your photos and data

Your photos and history are yours. They are stored on your phone. You give us permission to process the photos and details you send for AI analysis only for as long as it takes to produce your result, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not claim ownership of anything you create in the App.

Keep your own copies: the App's data is excluded from cloud backups, and deleting the App deletes it. Use Export everything to keep a copy.

6. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • use the App, or our server, other than through the App as intended;
  • try to get around usage limits, send automated or bulk requests to our server, or disrupt the service;
  • reverse engineer the App to misuse our server or the AI service;
  • upload photos of other people without their consent, or anything unlawful.

We may limit or block access to our server for anyone who breaks these rules.

7. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or other term or condition, implied or imposed by law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

8. Limits of our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, and subject to section 7:

  • the App and its information are provided as general information to help you track your hair, not as a substitute for professional advice;
  • we are not liable for decisions you make based on the App's estimates or information; and
  • where our liability for failing to comply with a consumer guarantee can be limited, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

9. Changes and ending

We may update the App and these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the App before it applies. You can stop using the App at any time and delete it; use Delete everything first if you want its data erased before you uninstall.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
